Lisa Tugnette was diagnosed with breast cancer at the early age of
36 and shortly thereafter lost both breasts to mastectomies. The immediate sense of loss was intense and her self-image plummeted. The fact that there appeared to be so little information available on
how to cope with the grief that overwhelmed her led to the writing of this book. Lisa's hope is that her own story - from the early days of despair to the eventual breast cancer reconstruction which restored her confidence as a woman - will help other women embarking on a similar journey.
Lisa devotes a lot time volunteering to give back to her community. As president of Limestone City Toastmasters, she speaks frequently to large crowds about breast cancer, enabling her to raise funds and awareness. A former member of the board and co-facilitator for Breast Cancer Action Kingston, she has written numerous articles on behalf of Breast Cancer Action Kingston and Canadian Breast Cancer Network. She has also appeared on the television show Sexy Girl and since modelled in fundraising fashion shows, and participated in various television interviews for CTV News Ottawa, CTV News Toronto, and CBC News World. Lisa lives in Kingston, Ontario with her husband and two teenage children.
A percentage of the book sales will be donated to Willow Breast Cancer Support Canada and Breast Cancer Action Kingston.
